How approval works

Approval is how a submitted application becomes a worker authorised for your site. It runs step by step — each approver reviews and signs off their part, and the steps run in order until the last one is approved.

This guide covers:

  • Routing the submitted application to the first step’s approvers
  • Moving through each configured step in order, every step approved before the next
  • Running different approval processes per worker type, such as employee and contractor
  • Checking the mandatory-document gate at the final step

This is your control point — named people put their name to letting someone on site, against the evidence in front of them.

💡 Power User Insight: If two people must both sign off, model it as two steps, not two approvers on one step — where several can approve one step, any one of them clears it. Each sign-off is an attributable attestation.
