Approvers are the people who clear each step of an application before a worker is authorised for your site. You can name them, or let anyone holding a given role approve — either way, one of them is enough to clear a step.
This guide covers:
- Assigning specific GSA accounts — site admin level or above — to a step
- Setting a step so anyone holding a chosen role can approve it, with the pool tracking role membership automatically
- Scoping approval authority to the site
- Reserving escalated documents for administrators who hold that privilege
- Recognising that a single approver on a step clears it, so two confirmations means two steps
Define these clearly and every sign-off traces to a real, accountable account — never a free-text name.
💡 Power User Insight: Assigning approvers to a step is a System Administrator job. A site admin is exactly the kind of account you would name as an approver on one.
