Setting up skills and requirements

A skill is a qualification your site requires; requirements decide which workers must hold it. Set these and GSA works out each worker’s personal list of documents and courses from their role, crew and employment type.

This guide covers:

  • Setting which roles, crews and worker types a skill is required of at your site
  • Choosing who can approve each skill — a named role or a minimum role permission
  • Deciding whether a skill expires at your site, and for how long
  • Marking which documents are mandatory and which need a privileged approver to sign off
  • Restricting who can view sensitive evidence, such as medical certificates

Get these rules right and every gate check, dashboard and audit reads from one dependable source of truth.

💡 Power User Insight: The skill catalogue itself — expiry behaviour, competency levels, course mappings — is maintained by a System Administrator. You apply those skills to your site’s roles and approvers.
