Assigning an access card

Assigning an access card links a physical card to a worker in GSA so their approved status can open the gate. Card numbers come from your access-control system and are imported, then a GSA user attaches one to the worker.

This guide covers:

  • Importing card numbers issued by the access-control system
  • Assigning a card to a worker as a deliberate person’s action
  • Letting GSA commission permissions from the worker’s skills and group membership
  • Putting the card’s access into effect at full approval

One deliberate assignment, and from there the card stays in step with the worker’s compliance state.

💡 Power User Insight: A worker holds one active card at a time. Card assignment is not automated — it is a GSA user’s action, even though the permissions behind it are evaluated and pushed for you.
